can the submission be hacky?
can a submission that hacks together information because of some limits of the api win in this contest? or are we only allowed to use the api within the current limits?
please let me know asap so i know whether to create a demo video or not ;-)

This is a hackathon, isn't it? I would go ahead and submit your app/website and make it clear in the video and/or description on the API limitations you encountered. With the current limits, you should still be able to build a decent hack but you should be at least be making calls to the Yelp API to build your app/website.
